HOUSES OF WORSHIP DAMAGE ASSISTANCE

HOUSES OF WORSHIP DAMAGE ASSISTANCE

Monday, September 20, 2021

Houses of worship (churches/ synagogues, etc) are able to apply and may be eligible to receive funding for the repair and/or replacement of facilities damaged or destroyed during a natural disaster. FEMA policies were changed to make it easier to receive possible funding from an event that is a Federally Declared Major Disaster, such as Hurricane Ida. Mayor Arceneaux believes, “many houses of worship may not be aware of this change in policy and we want to make sure they get access to the assistance they need.”

The City has established an email point of contact for our local entities. Please email brandon@gonzalesla.com for assistance with more information and initial coordination with the appropriate Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness personnel.
