Gonzales, LA –  City of Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux recently visited Meylan, France, as part of a group consisting of elected officials and member of the Gonzales Committee on Cultural Affairs, Meylan and Gonzales have been sister cities since the 1980s, with representatives from each city visiting the other on alternate years.

As part of this year’s events, Mayor Arceneaux met with Meylan Mayor Jean-Phillippe Blanc and STMicroelectronics Innovation, Collaboration and Efficiency Director Thierry Fensch, to discuss strategies used in terms of economic growth. The trio shared concerns and solutions.

“We were able to discuss similarities between our two cities, and also listen to ideas in terms of economic development and recreation that are working abroad,” said Mayor Arceneaux. “This partnership opens many doors for us in terms of shared practice.”

STMicroelectronics is a global leader in providing semi-conductor solutions. The company uses multiple supply and support firms, much like the industries that pave the Mississippi River in the River Parishes.

“There are a lot of similarities in terms of economics between our two cities,” said Mayor Arceneaux. “I look forward to taking ideas given to me, and seeing how to apply them within our own city.”
