Two construction projects of note, one public and one private, are ongoing in the City of Gonzales. John H. Carter’s facility is coming along, 11 phases of concrete slab having been completed, steel is going up.
Freeland Jackson Center, long-awaited and a bit behind, is scheduled for substantial completion in May (fingers crossed). Mayor Tim Riley visited the site last week as finishing touches are being applied.
“We’re all very excited for the center’s opening which cannot come soon enough,” the mayor said. “Freeland Jackson Center is going to provide recreational opportunities for our residents on a scale never seen before along with educational assistance for our kids and many other benefits.”
John H. Carter is expected to provide several dozen good paying jobs inside the city along with substantial tax revenue.
John H. Carter’s decision to locate inside the city limits is a big deal for Gonzales.
