Mayor Riley Declares Emergency anticipating Winter Storm

LOCAL DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY

            WHEREAS, the City of Gonzales has declared a State of Emergency due to a severe winter storm event forecasted by the National Weather Service, which may include sub-freezing temperatures, freezing rain, ice accumulation, and hazardous travel conditions; and

WHEREAS, this winter storm poses a significant threat to human life, critical infrastructure, and public safety, and has the potential to disrupt essential public services and cause damage to public and private property throughout the City of Gonzales; and

WHEREAS, immediate emergency action is required to protect lives, preserve property, ensure the continuity of government operations, and minimize the impacts of this winter storm event; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Timothy “Tim” Riley, Mayor of the City of Gonzales, State of Louisiana, do hereby proclaim a State of Emergency within the City of Gonzales for the period beginning Saturday, January 24, 2026, through Saturday, January 31, 2026, unless terminated earlier or extended by further proclamation.
